Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

I got this bike to use while I study. I am going back to school and taking an online program and find that I am just sitting too much without time to get out and exercise like I want to. This bike is so comfortable I can just set a table up next to it and ride it while I do my school work. It's great! I also can use it to get into a tuff workout when I want to. It is quiet so I can use it at any hours while my family is sleeping. It is safe and sturdy enough that I feel good about letting my 7 year old ride it too. She loves it...and it's good exercise for her too.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

We traded our treadmill(were avid treadmill users).
I developed back & hip pain. My husband damaged his knee and it wasn't heeling. So we were told to use a lower impact piece of equipment like this bike. We have room for it in our gym room so no problem with storage. I have trouble using the bike too as I'm still in treatment for hip & back but husband uses daily and loves it. His knee is healing so he has no pain when using.

I am 70 years old, in pretty decent shape, hate to go to the gym but really need to exercise to stay healthy and feel good. This bike more than met my expectations. It is sturdy, quiet, comfortable, and easy to assemble (2 hours, no help). I can easily read my Nook with the book-holder/monitor. I think I'm actually going to use this 3-4 times/week. Buy this bike. You won't be disappointed.

I was ver disappointed I could not use the bike immediately. When we received it I just had surgery. In a few more weeks I will get to enjoy the use.

My husband comments are that it is great! Neither one of us are major exercise people, but the bike is very comfortable with great back support! We have a big screen TV in the room to watch as we bike.

Both of us feel that we invested well.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

I was looking for a good moderately priced, start-up recumbant bike. I read several reviews and reports from consumer groups. I shoppped around town, finally found one to "test drive." I liked the way it felt, the seat was comfortable and easy to adjust and the pedals worked smoothly. Best price was on line, [...] My son helped me assemble the bike and we got it done in about 1 1/2 hours. I could not have put it together alone - assembly is a two man job. The instructions and illustrations were easy to follow. Many reviews have stated that the controls are hard to figure out. SO TRUE. So - I just played around until I got it to do what I wanted to do.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

Had this bike for about a month. Try to use it everyday for 30 minutes. Easy to assemble when you follow directions. Once you get used to the various controls, they become very easy to understand. Extremely quiet and a really wide variety of programs for all levels.

I find the pedals a bit uncomfortable, but not too painful. The control panel could have better brightness, hard to see with just dim room lighting.

The customer service was excellent, I had to call them twice just to get some minor help with the programs.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

We own the earlier model and decided to buy one for my wife's mother. The new model is not as comfortable or as high quality as the one we own. It is alright and if you didn't have an older one maybe you'd never notice. It came with problems that we had to overcome to set up. Biggest one was a wiring connector was missing so we had to take the matching connector off and twist all the wires together. Would have called for assistance but really didn't have a number and figured they wouldn't know anything anyway. I think next time I will buy locally so I can see product before buying [...]. We did get it working though and the new model although cost reduced is still decent.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

I chose this bike because of its Schwinn name. When my children were younger we always purchased Schwinn bikes. We are in our 70s and the bike was easy to assemble. There was one problem. When assembling the front to the back and connecting the wires, one wire did not have a male plug. Had to call customer service. They sent out new parts and instructions. After reading the instructions, my husband said he couldn't do it and called customer service again and they sent out a technician. The tech fixed it and showed us how to program the monitor. My husband loves this bike and said it was a great choice, especially sight unseen on the Internet.

So now it is easy to follow the doctor's advice. Great tool for recovery from total hip replacement. This bike has earned a permanent place in our home.

So far, so good. I've had it a couple weeks and have used it every day. I like the preset courses (going over hills and such). The computer could be easier to use (Maybe I need to read more on it but I don't think so). The price was the best I could find anywhere and I looked all over.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

BOUGHT THIS FOR EXERCISE WITH BAD KNEES AND BACK NEEDED RECUMBENT STYLE BIKE. ASSEMBLY WAS RELATIVELY EASY, DID IT WITH ONE PERSON TOOK A COUPLE OF HOURS BUT WASN'T IN A HURRY. SOME OF THE DIAGRAMS IN THE MANUAL WEREN'T QUITE CLEAR. THE PACKAGING OF THE TOOLS WAS GREAT.

ON THE OTHER HAND THE OPERATING MANUAL IS REALLY POOR. I HAVE A PHONE CALL INTO SCHWINN CUSTOMER SERVICE TO EXPLAIN HOW TO GET TO ALL THE PROGRAMS AND DIFFERENT MODES. COULDN'T FIND ANY OTHER SOURCE TO EXLAIN THE CONTROLS.

ALSO DIDN'T FIND THE PEDDLE AND STRAPS FIT VERY WELL. ALSO THE FORWARD AND AFT MOVEMENT OF THE SEAT WAS STIFF AND HARD TO MAKE MINOR ADJUSTMENTS.

ONCE I GOT EVERYTHING ORGANIZED, I WAS PLEASED WITH THE PRODUCT. EXTREMELY QUIET, BUT A BIT UNSTABLE IF YOU PEDDLE AT RAPID SPEEDS. THE SEAT COULD BE MORE COMFORTABLE, BUT OVERALL GOOD RATING.

In the first assembly step, I put the front bar on backwards (instructions not clear). Luckily I noticed that the front wheels would NOT be useable in this position and reversed the bar (correct position). From then on, I read the instructions carefully and reviewed the drawings closely and I had no more mistakes. The multi-pin electrical connecors did NOT snap into place - I hope they don't fall apart (I should have taped them).

The seat is a little uncomfortable, but I think I will adjust to it more as time goes on. I ride the bike 60 minutes a day 6 times a week, so i am on it for a fairly long period each day. It is very smooth and very quiet, I just get something on the TV that I want to watch for and hour and go. My GF that was very questioning before I bought it, gets on it after I do and rides it for 30 minutes on manual settings and likes it too. I can ride it rain or shine, which is good since I live in Oregon and it rains a lot. Easy to use it was easy to set up and assemble. easy to understand. I have no complaints, and I am getting more exercise now.

We purchased our bike because my husband's surgeon recommended we get one at his two week follow-up after Arthroscopic surgery on both knees. The first time he got on it, it was literally a miracle. His circulation improved and the pain began to leave his body after two weeks of continuous pain. He is now on the bike four times a day doing one mile each time. We own an elliptical and a treadmill but the Schwinn Recumbent Exercise Bike will forever be our favorite.

I use this bike everyday -- often more than once a day. I had a sore knee for over 6 months, but biking helped heal the knee and I rarely notice any discomfort now. The bike is quiet, comfortable, and so easy and pleasant to use. If I'm not needing a hard workout, I will read or talk on the phone while biking -- or just anytime I need to do something sitting down, I figure I may as well be pedaling while doing so.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

[...] Set up took me about 2 hours of really taking my time/going slowly by myself. I took each piece down to the basement one at a time during assembly. This bike is SO quiet, I watch TV and don't have to turn the volume up at ALL when I'm using it. The control panel is also low enough that I can see the TV over it. Before ordering I went to a local store and sat on a few bikes. Some had panels too high which would have blocked my view to TV. It seems sturdy and steady. My biggest concern was that it wouldn't offer enough resistance, but it does. At the gym I can ride at level 8 or so, but this bike is a workout for me at level 6, so it is definitely a workout. I go to the gym for full workouts but this is great for nights stuck at home or mornings before work to fit in an extra 30 mins of cardio.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

The programming on this is horrible. It takes like 5 minutes to get started riding the bike if you want to use the built in program. For some insane reason you have to choose a user first, something of which we have been unable to figure out how to setup even with use of the manual. The AC power is in the very front of the bike which makes it impossible to use unless you want to ride staring at the wall. (we bought an extension cord) If you turn it sideways the ac cord runs right beside your peddle. not a good thing. In this day and time the programming should be simple. Nice solid bike, not sure I would recommened it though because of the programming and AC in front.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

Easy to assemble by myself even though directions don't include somethings. After a week or two of a noisy bike I realize there was an adjustment screw on the bottom to balance the bike and now it is really quite. This was not in the manual. Console is still quite confusing but I am determined to figure it out.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

I am 83 years old and have peripheral vascular disease with stent in one leg. I have used treadmill for past 10+ years and feet just won't take the impact anymore. Switched to recumbent bike and do nearly daily exercise of at least thirty minutes at setting of 4 to 6, which gives good calorie burn. Total of about 7+miles registered each day. Bike had a "clunk" first day, but this has disappeared. Apparently due to pedal torque being off. Cranked it up to maximum setting of 16, then back down and noise cleared. Would recommend for anyone in my condition. It sure is much easier on my old, worn out feet

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

I am 88 years old and wanted to continue working out after 3 months of physical therapy. This bike is better than the one the p.t. center had. I love the fact that you do not have to step over a big hump to sit on it. There is no discernible noise or vibration. The price is fanstastic - I did a lot of comparison shopping. You do need two people to assembly it (one of whom was not me).

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

I am a woman >50, 5'5", 200lbs, have a bad knee, achilles tendenitis, and 2 herniated discs. I used a recumbent bike at my physical therapists and liked it. Since my insurance only allowed a limited qty of therapy visits I decided to get my own bike for continued therapy as well as for exercise for weight loss. After reading the reviews on various bikes I decided on this model.I found that it was important to assemble it EXACTLY as the directions stated. I went cautiously slow and it took me about 1.5 hours to assemble. It is WONDERFULLY QUIET to use. There were a few squeeks that I had to tighten after the first few uses so keep the l-wrench close by. The heart rate monitor is OK but slow to react so be patient. I put a yoga mat under the bike to protect the carpet and to minimize slippage. Yoga mats are about $10-15 vs equipment mats that cost $20-60. So far, after using it for 2 weeks (daily for 45-60 min) I have been happy with the bike. If you have feet over a men's size 11 shoes, you might want to get larger pedals. The seat is reasonably comfortable. This bike is rated for people under 300lbs but I might suggest its more comfortable for someone under 250lbs. I did test the bike at a local sports store before ordering it online to be sure I liked the bike, seat, ease to get on/off the bike, the overall construction, controls, etc. [...] I appreciated the way the nuts/bolts were vac packed on a board with clear part descriptions. It did make assembly a tad easier. my exacto knife was all I needed since all the other tools are provided but vac packed on the cardboard with the nuts/bolts/washers.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

My wife and I bought it primarily for physical therapy. Her for sciatica and me for bursitis (hips). I also had knee surgery a number of months back and this is good continuing exercise. As we both work up endurance, I believe we will also benefit from weight loss and cardio exercise.

The bike is absolutely great. It is smooth, quiet and the readout tells you everything you need to know statistically. Manual use is simple. Get on the bike, hit quick start, and push the up and down buttons to set the level of resistance. The only confusing part I found were the instructions for setting up personalized users and programming. The booklet doesn't really contain enough detail. It's not rocket science, so I think I will figure it out the more I work it.

Assembly was fairly simple. I am mechanically minded and my son-in-law assisted me. He loves mechanical things, so we whizzed through it in somewhat under an hour. It pays to have an assistant to do this.

I would certainly recommend this product to anyone for home use. It is sturdy and well built. I don't think you can go wrong!

I use this product for 30 minutes a day if I am unable to walk due to weather constraints. I love the quietness of the bike. I wish there was more info about the fitness test - unsure if a better score is higher or lower when making comparisons. I also pad the seat with a pillow for my workouts - though this seat is much more comfortable than that of my former upright stationary bike.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

The Bike is built very sturdy. There is some flextion while pedaling in highest resistance, but it should last. My only complaint is the LED screen made of flimsy plastic. Pressing any of the control buttons moves the entire plastic surface. Exercise Statistics and heart rate monitor is awesome - I just wish they used a stiffer clear plastic. Satisfied with purchase and price!

I got the bike for knee replacement rehab in at home. After looking locally, on the internet and reading all the reviews, I ordered one. I am very glad I did. If you don't want to spend $500 to $600 for a bike, buy the 220 model. It is a very nice well made bike.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

I'm a big guy with horrible back problems (herniated discs). I've been working out for 20 years, 5 days a week to improve/maintain my health. Recently, hiking and using a treadmill have aggravated my back to the point where I was in so much pain I was unable to function. I researched cardio workouts for people with bad backs, and next to swimming the recumbent bike was the most recommended form of exercise. So I researched recumbent bikes on the web and the Schwinn 220 was the highest rated bike in my price range.

Setup was time consuming (about an hour) but simple and easy. Tools are included, directions are fool proof, and the parts are labeled very clearly. It says it takes 2 people to assemble, but I had no problems doing it myself.

This bike is built like a tank! Thick steel with strong welds and hardware. I'm about 275lbs and this bike doesn't flinch. The seat is adjustable, very comfortable, and supports my back. It operates silently (like a German U-boat), and you can listen to music or the TV without having to boost the volume.

The computer/display features are outstanding! There's numerous workout levels (from beginner to Lance Armstrong) and programs to keep your workouts varied and interesting. The programs simulate roads/bike courses (with hills and flats) and various workout routines. And if you don't like any of those, you can create your own custom program. The computer automatically adjusts the pedaling tension, so you don't have to fumble with anything during a workout. Unless you want to, and then you can adjust it yourself using the simple up and down arrows on the display. Workouts include warmup and cool downs.

The display keeps track of time, heart rate, rpm, speed, distance, calories burned, watts (whatever the hell that is), and just about everything short of telling you what you're thinking.

I've been using this bike for 2 weeks and the pain in my back has lessened dramatically. And I've lost 6 pounds!

Cons:
Instruction manual is a bit confusing when it comes to utilizing all the features on the computer display. You can figure it out with a little trial and error, but it'd be nice if the manual was a bit clearer and more complete.

Rubber pedal straps. LEAVE THEM OFF! The straps get caught on the cranks and made it impossible to pedal. I took them off and the problem was solved.

I highly recommend this bike. It's built strong, has lots of useful features, and does everything you want it to do. Schwinn has been building bikes for a long time, and they know their stuff. And the quality and features you get for the price can't be beat!

This bike helped me reduce my back pain and resume a healthy life. I'm VERY happy with this product.

Hope this long, rambling review helps someone. ;)

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

[...].I found it easy to put together- I followed the directions carefully, and it took 1.5-2 hours without hurrying. There were a few assembly directions that were a little confusing (the main seat support bar already had hardware attached instead of in the bolts and washers packaging; directions were not very clear about the left pedal attachment being reverse threaded, though I eventually realized; there were 2 sets of attach holes for the seat backrest, with no direction which to use- I'm short, so I just used the ones that set the seatback lower). Overall, assembly was not difficult.I noticed during assembly that the quality of the product is really quite good. Parts fit together accurately, and are sturdy enough to withstand prolonged use. I am happy, as I was looking for a recumbent without a lot of bells and whistles, but which would be good enough quality to last. I think I got just that, at a good price.I have to agree with everyone else, though, that the console directions are nearly useless. After several tries, I lost patience and just run the "quick" program so I can see my level, time, and RPMs. I hope to figure out how to get it to run the included pre-set programs, but about 45 minutes of effort have not been enough for me to figure it out yet.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

Changing the seat position is clumsy. You have to get off of the seat to turn the seat knob, and then have to hold the frame to move the seat forward or backward. I f 2 or more people use the Bike, this becomes a pain as the seat adjustment has to be changed often. Also, the "frame" is hollow, and flexes when cycling; the frame needs to be more rigid.

Only downside - during set up, we had to slam the back part of the base into the other part of the base - was a two person job. Once it was set up (which only took an hour or so), it's a dream. Sturdy for both the fiance and me (though, we're slim), and so quiet I can watch tv! Great for the price!

Has helped my spinal arthritis - making it a lot easier in day to day life. Recommended for low-impact training or physical therapy cases!

Nice design, solid, quiet, comfortable, easy to use while watching TV. Could be a bit easier to assemble, but it wasn't bad. Control panel is nice but use is not intuitive. Electrical connection is only in front, would be better in back.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

So, firstly, I've had other exercise bikes etc, but never had to set them up myself as they were either gifts or pre-used. I'm not the best with tools/technical things. The bike wasn't super easy to assemble, but I did it in a little over an hour with a bit of help holding the various pieces etc. Definitely not the most challenging ordeal, but it didn't go as smoothly as I'd have liked. Not so bad. In my opinion some of the instructions are a little ambiguous, but not too hard to figure out with some common sense. As for the bike itself, it's comfortable and easy to adjust for different heights. I'm 5'2'' and have used it several times since assembling it last week with no complaints. It's a little louder than expected (as soon as it's turned on there's a mechanical whirring sound from the motor, whether it's being used or not) and the cord for the electrical plug is shorter than I'd like it to be, but if those are my biggest complaints about a [$] bike, then I'm pretty happy.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

I recently purchased a Schwinn 220 Recumbant Bike from The Exercise Bike Store.Ordering was very easy. [...]There were a lot of parts to assemble but all parts were available and the directions were easily followed. The product is sturdy and well worth the price. The control panel takes a little getting used to. But the input of personal programs is great. The back rest is just what the Dr. ordered. My wife cannot use a regular exercise bike and this one was just perfect. Only downside I found was the adjustable seat. With two different size people using the bike, it takes a bit of time and work to move it back and forth. It would seem that after a year or more of moving the seat the threads may have a tendency to strip.Overall an excellent product.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

I use my recumbent bike to continue strengthening and endurance following open heart surgery rehabilitation physical therapy started three months ago. Having used one of these bikes at the rehab center, I decided to continue with one of my own at home. It is almost identical in performance as the one at the rehab center and it is very convenient to use every day. Also, I am 77 years old and was able to assemble it myself following the instruction manual which, in my opinion, is very well written.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

This is a great product that met all my expectations but one. I am short and round which I hope to improve on using this bike, but I have not been able to get seat in comfortable position. The 360 degree rotation of pedal brings my knee into my belly if I sit close enough to have my legs a comfortable length and if the seat is back I have to stretch my legs more than is comfortable. I did not have that problem on the one I used in Physical Therapy and was not expecting it on this one, but I am new to this. Having to be less comfortable is making it harder for me to want to use it, but it is way too much trouble to take it all apart and return it. If you don'thave short legs it will probably be great for you.

it is a great buy!! i hate gyms [...] so i started buying all my stuff for my home gym. seen this bike and got it. it works great. its not noisy or anything that some review state. need a new bike when my bike went and bought this one. i was going on my cutting stage and with working out 30 mins in the morning, 30 mins after lunch and 30 mins before bed on non weight training days... 20 mins after lifting and 30 mins before bed on weight training days. i take 1 gram CLA and Betastax at breakfast, CLA and Betastax at lunch, CLA at dinner, and CLA 30 mins before bed then right before i get in bed i have a Casein protein shake. in 30 days i have lost 22 pounds and following my traning routine my wife lost 21 pounds in 30 days. and yes it was healthy, we have 5 meals a day plus or Casein. anyway this bike has helped us along with that and we love this bike!!

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

I've worked out over the past few years with a Bowflex, a "scissor style" exercise bike and a cardio rotating seat. I used this bike for the first time today. After the first 10 minutes, I could tell it was working me much more than my old exercise bike. After 40 minutes, there was barely a dry spot on my shirt and it felt great. I already love this bike!

I had recent knee surgery and this bike is perfect to help improve and maintain range of motion in my knee. The only thing that is somewhat difficult is adjusting the position of the seat, forward and back. I am still learning how to use the contolls to get the workout that I want. Because of the preprogramed workouts I am finding it a little difficult. But overall I love it and am so excited about using it.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

I recently purchased this bike after straining my tendon at the gym and being told not to run or use the elliptical (which has been very hard for me as I am an avid runner). I set it up myself (I'm a female) and it only took about an hour and I was on my way. Directions were full of pictures and easy to follow. Pedals are ergonomic and overall design makes for low impact while still letting you work up a sweat. Pics don't show it, but it came with a water bottle holder. My only negatives would be that at the lowest resistance, bike shakes a little if you try to go fast. Also the handles toward front of the bike are basically useless because you cannot reach them while sitting properly in the seat. Generally in a recumbent bike you are going to hold the handles next to your seat anyway, so for me this isn't that big of deal. [...] There was one minor part broken on the back leg of the bike, but this was manufacturers defect and was so minor it was nothing i had to call the company to deal with. Overall i would definitely say yes to buying this bike for either casual use or a more highly intense cardio workout. Good bike for the money I spent!

I'm a woman and had put an elliptical together so this was easy. I bought this for winter or bad weather exercise. It's easy on my knees (running kills me) and hips. My boyfriend also uses it. It's very comfortable. Overall nice equipment for someone who can't go all out with exercise anymore.

Comments about Schwinn Schwinn 220 Recumbent Bike:

This bike is awesome! My family and I use it 3 to 4 times a week. Assembly was not difficult, but time consuming. This bike will benefit us in our weight loss, along with our other exercise equipment. This recumbent bike was a great addition. The seat is very comfortable and it is easy to get on with the walk through design. Both my husband and I have knee problems, so this was important to us. We had an old upright stationary bike and we like the recumbent bike better. I only wish it had a book holder.
